Giving Tuesday 2023

This Giving Tuesday, we reflect on Saint Joseph’s College growth in the last few years. The College continues to grow and develop two academic tracks—certificate programming, primarily in the health care area with nationally named certificates, and traditional degree programming in partnership with other universities. To date, over two hundred students have graduated from the certificate programs. These programs include certified nursing assistant, phlebotomy, EKG, medical assistant, billing and coding, and veterinary assistant. Our graduates have been able to garner significant jobs in the various health care areas.

Pictured Below: Medical Assistant Students during their night time clinicals on campus. Most students pictured are “stacking” their certificates, becoming certified on multiple levels, making them more knowledgable and employable in their desired field.

Taking multiple classes is not easy but it is made possible to these students by scholarship donations! Not only are these students leaving Saint Joe with multiple certificates, they are leaving Saint Joe as new alumni! Thank you to our donors!

A survey of the health certificate graduates indicated that they are interested in pursuing additional education in health care. To this end, the college will be partnering with a university to bring health education to the Saint Joseph’s campus. In an interesting way, the College is creating its own recruitment pool of students to populate a more traditional health education avenue on campus.

Currently, the College…

  • is developing traditional degree programs through partner universities;

  • offers a variety of non-degree certificate programs in healthcare, animal care, and executive education;

  • through its Meeting and Conferencing Center, provides the perfect venue for corporate events, training sessions, workshops, seminars, after hours business meetups, and networking events;

  • through its Core Coworking Center, provides individuals and organizations the use of its state-of-the-art facilities to complete a project or to engender a new business.

While the changes at Saint Joseph’s College throughout its history have been difficult, we embrace change as it is the sign of a living entity. The guiding thread at Saint Joseph’s has always been the Mission and outreach to the community. The next phase of Saint Joseph’s College is beginning to take shape in the programs described above.

In addition to developing academic programming, the College continues to care for the physical plant. From July 2022 to 2023, the following infrastructure repairs/updates have been made:

  • Chapel roof repairs

  • Core redo on roof

  • Raleigh roof work

  • Boiler upgrades

  • New mowers

Throughout its history, the College has remained true to its Mission and “tradition of excellence and to a liberal education that is a united endeavor of intelligence and faith.” It seeks to build an inclusive environment welcoming “all races, creeds, and socio-economic backgrounds who can thrive academically, spiritually, and socially in this inclusive community.” It also seeks to meet the educational needs of the local community. In 2023-24, this journey continues!
