This Giving Tuesday, we reflect on Saint Joseph’s College evolution through time. The College has undergone several iterations since its founding in 1889—an orphanage, high school, junior college, seminary, senior college, a coed institution, and is now positioning itself to be a pioneering 21st century educational institution. Throughout its history, the College has remained true to its Mission and “tradition of excellence and to a liberal education that is a united endeavor of intelligence and faith.” It seeks to build an inclusive environment welcoming “all races, creeds, and socio-economic backgrounds who can thrive academically, spiritually, and socially in this inclusive community.” It also seeks to meet the educational needs of the local community.
Our goal has always been to return the College to financial stability, continue its Mission, and provide state-of-the-art programming on the Rensselaer campus. That endeavor is underway and flourishing!
Through use of its state-of-the-art Core Building and modern apartments, the College has begun offering an ongoing array of exciting and new programs to meet the needs of the community and to continue to fulfill its Mission.
The College…
delivers traditional degree programs through partner universities;
offers a variety of non-degree certificate programs in healthcare, animal care, and executive education;
through its Meeting and Conferencing Center, provides the perfect venue for corporate events, training sessions, workshops, seminars, after hours business meetups, and networking events;
through its Core Coworking Center, provides individuals and organizations the use of its state-of-the-art facilities to complete a project or to engender a new business.
While the changes at Saint Joseph’s College throughout its history have been difficult, we embrace change as it is the sign of a living entity. The guiding thread at Saint Joseph’s has always been the Mission and outreach to the community. The next phase of Saint Joseph’s College is beginning to take shape in the programs described above. I invite you to become part of this renewal through a tax-deductible donation to the College on this Giving Tuesday – a day of global generosity.
