Christian Bioethics -- This course is an introduction to the ever-changing field of bioethics. My approach to this course is by way of theological principles that can help one navigate the dilemmas of bioethics. We begin with a basic principle that humans are created in the imago dei and have an inherent dignity. This course is intended to introduce students of various majors to the vast field of bioethics. See the course syllabus for the course. This also contains a number of very good links for research purposes. Core 10 - Christianity in Public Life -- This senior seminar is one of the capstone courses offered this semester in the Core Program. We begin by reading Brendan Sweetman's Why Politics Needs Religion, and discuss the role of religion in public policy issues. We then examine some principles as related to various ethical issues. The goal is for each student to write a major research paper on an ethical issue and to begin to apply principles of Christian humanism to arrive at a conclusion. See the syllabus for this course.
