Course Objective:
        The use of scientific methods by business in gathering and utilizing marketing data in the efficient
selling of merchandise.  An analysis of selling, price and product problems that market research may
assist in solving; research questionnaire building and methods of sampling; a survey of problems that a
division of marketing is likely to face; analysis of markets through company records, published sources
and original investigation.

In-class assignments:
     Those projects turned in at the end of class whether it is done individually or within a group.
     Those found not working on the assigned project will receive a zero on the assignment.
     All assignments must be referenced properly in order to get credit.  Failure to reference will result in a zero.

Out-of-class assignments:
    Must be typed
    No work will be accepted late or hand written.
   All assignments must be referenced properly in order to get credit.  Failure to reference will result in a zero.

Business Write-ups: 
    Each student is responsible for summarizing 12 business articles relating to research
    One write up is due each Tuesday, starting August 29 and ending on November 14.
    Each Tuesday class will begin with a few students sharing their summary as to what is happening in the news.
    These articles need to be typed and referenced properly.
        ** Six articles can be related to research in the United States
        ** Six articles need to be related to research in China

**Academic Honesty - Plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty on the assignments or tests will not be
tolerated.  If the instructor finds that a student has engaged in dishonesty, the student may be referred to the Dean of
Academic Affairs for appropriate action.  See your student handbook for Academic Honesty.

** Exams - Students are expected to be present for all exams.  No makeup exams will be given unless the student has
contacted the professor and received permission PRIOR to the date of the original exam.  This includes students
participating in athletics who must arrange to take the exam on or before the scheduled date.

** Assignments - ALL assignments are to be submitted on the specified due date.  Late assignments will NOT be
accepted.  This includes students participating in athletics who must turn in their assignments prior to leaving
campus.

**Attendance - You will be REQUIRED to fill out an ABSENTEE DOCUMENTATION FORM.  (see attached)

** Students who have special needs, please see me by the end of the first week

**No cell phones, beepers, or other objects that may distract the class allowed!
