The Saint Joseph's College Teacher Education Program is standards-based, performance-driven,
and assessment conscious.
Therefore, the Saint Joseph's College Teacher Education Program is
approved (i.e. accredited) by the Indiana Professional Standards Board
(IPSB) and the National Council for Accreditation of
Teacher Education (NCATE).
Results from continued program assessment guide compliance with
national standards for beginning teachers and IPSB standards. Graduates
of the program meet the certification requirements of Indiana and many
other states through cooperative and reciprocity agreements.
In accordance with federal guidelines, Saint Joseph's College complies
with Title II legislation. Information that officially described
the "pass rate" of the students is referred to as "program
completers." In layman's terms, appropriate data were filed
related to the performance of those SJC students who had completed all
aspects of the teacher education program, including passing scores on
two national tests. SJC is proud to announce that our pass rate
has improved each year and will rise to 100% with full implementation
of
the new program.
All institutions, that prepare teachers in Indiana, were required to
file a Unit Assessment System (UAS) plan by June 30, 2002. Similarly,
all such institutions had to file their "T2T," or Transition to
Teaching plan, by July 1, 2002.
Saint Joseph's College ably compiled with all deadlines.
