Chicago...Finally!
The trip to downtown Chicago that had been on the planning table for almost two years finally came to fruition in late April after retiring club president Rob Siegel took charge and made it happen. The group made pilgrimages to the Federal reserve Bank of Chicago, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade (sort of).
"It was important for us to get out and see these places," Siegel commented. "Lunch at Berghoff's was genuinely enhanced with the knowledge that each of us had become 'Spectacular Speculators' at the Mercantile Exchange."

Puma Fund Update
The Puma Fund is a portfolio of $10,000 under the management of SJC Investment Club members. Initiated in March 2003 with funding from the College's endowment, the fund currently consists of investments in The Finish Line, Home Depot and Alcoa.
While our initial purchases in Finish Line and Home Depot continue to do well, Alcoa and Ebay are pulling down the return on the portfolio. We're still looking long-term, however, and believe those two stocks will perform much better in the next few years. Total return on invested fund as of January 6, 2006 was 22.5%. Return on S&P 500 over same time period was about 27%.

| SUGGESTING A STOCK |
At most of our meetings, we like for a few members to recommend a specific stock for everyone else to look at. It's a way to generate ideas. It's simple - just tell us a few basic things about the company and its business, plus some recent information about the stock price.
Download this easy form, fill it out, and let one of the officers know that you'd like to talk briefly about the stock at the next meeting. There's also some accompanying notes that help explain the form. |
