SOC 114  Social Problems and Social Welfare

In this course American perspectives on social problems and social welfare are placed in historical and theoretical context.  Emphasis is given to:  1)  the impact of social disparity and political and economic forces on problem/need definition, and
2)  the contributions of different theoretical perspectives to problem analyses and strategies of social intervention.
