Regular full-time hourly and administrative employees in positions that are budgeted for and work at least 1040 hours annually are eligible to accrue paid vacation. Coaches, part-time employees working less than 1040 hours annually, and temporary employees are not eligible to accrue paid vacation time.
Accrual of paid vacation days for both hourly and administrative employees will be on a proportionate basis according to actual hours worked for eligible positions budgeted for and working between 1040 and 2080 hours per year. Paid vacation does not accrue during periods of unpaid leave of absence or suspension, but it does continue to accrue during paid time off for holidays, vacation, sick leave, or major illness leave.
Paid vacation time is accrued with each bi-weekly payroll based upon years of service to the College and the number of regular hours worked. The rate of accrual is as follows:
Paid vacation time is accrued with each bi-weekly payroll at a rate equal to 22 days per year. Positions budgeted for and working between 1040 and 2080 hours per year will accrue on a proportionate basis according to actual hours worked.
In order to allow some flexibility during an employee's first partial year of employment, vacation time may be used as soon as it is accrued. However, under no circumstances may vacation time be taken before it is accrued.
All vacation time must be approved in advance by your supervisor (or his/her designee) and must be reported to Human Resources either on your time card (hourly employees) or your Monthly Attendance Record (administrative employees).
Vacation time may be used to continue pay in the case of an absence due to illness when the employee does not have any remaining accrued sick time.
It is expected that vacation time will be used during the 12 months following accrual. Because this is not always possible, unused paid vacation time may be accumulated up to a maximum of two years' accrual (44 days). After that point, accumulated paid vacation time will be lost. However, upon termination of employment, a maximum of 22 days of unused vacation time will be paid.
