Legacy Spotlight

After I arrived at SJC, I quickly found that the majority of my new friends were all Music majors and felt the call to join them. I was deeply intrigued by Prof. Capouch-add that to my fondness of computers and technology, which led to a double major with Computer Science by my sophomore year. I certainly would not have been able to complete a Music major without the help and assistance of all the Music faculty, most notably Dr. Egan. I am currently looking for employment (in either the technology or music fields) while I pursue a master's degree in Music at Butler University. I look forward to marrying the love of my life, Allison Mathews '10. I certainly encouraged Monica (just like any other collegeseeking individual I meet) to consider SJC. Ultimately she made the choice herself (after some encouragement from our mother I'm sure!) Hard work, determination, and good people skills are essential to success. The faculty, staff, and administration were all extremely receptive to these traits and countless people went out of their way to help further ensure my success. I certainly would not be where I am today without SJC, and I will forever be grateful to this institution that has made my dreams possible. Good luck in your senior year Monica, I know you'll make the best of it!

I wasn't accepted into the first program I tried getting into at a different school, and when they said that they would accept me for something that I didn't want to major in, I decided to look elsewhere. After visiting SJC and another school, I made my decision to come to SJC. I was interested in chemistry in high school and felt at home in the Puma community and the Chemistry Department. When I was a senior in high school, I had made up my mind that I would not go to school where Tom went. But as it turns out, SJC was a great fit for me, too. I love the class sizes at SJC and how my professors make the effort to get to know me. Even though some of my classes are hard work, I am glad that my professors are challenging me to do my best and improve as a student and future professional. I have been involved in Campus Ministry all four years, and I really appreciate being able to go to Mass on Sundays in the Chapel. My faith is important to me, and the community at SJC gives me the opportunity to practice it. After I graduate next year, I hope to find my first teaching position in a high school teaching chemistry.
