How did you hear about SJC?
After Googling forensic science schools, SJC came up as one of the top schools, so SJC was the place for me!
Are you getting financial aid and if so, what kind? How is it helping you to attend SJC?
I am getting the Freshman Loan as well as the Honors Scholarship. The Crown Point Community Foundation also awarded me a $500 scholarship. This makes my education actually cost less than it would at a state school.
Why did you choose SJC? If there were other colleges you considered, what does SJC have that they did not have -- from your perspective?
I chose SJC for the Forensic Science program. I heard all about Dr. Haskell online and I couldn't wait to get into his program. I did consider attending Valparaiso University, since they would have been the same price, but VU's science program did not interest me as much. SJC definitely has the small town feel too, which I love. I enjoyed getting new letters almost weekly from the college with cool gifts like lanyards, ID holders, and t-shirts. SJC just has a really close-knit community where it seems like every one cares about you, and you’re encouraged to join as many clubs as you can fit into your schedule.
What are your plans for the future or what career plans do you have?
I plan to graduate in four years. Then, I want to work with CSIs. I have not yet decided if I want to actually be on the scene or in the lab, but with the hands-on experience I get here, I'm sure I will be able to figure it out.
