Why did you choose SJC?
As a senior in high school, I looked at a variety of schools. After visiting SJC, I found it to have the best environment and most opportunities to get involved. The professors and students were friendly, and the classes were small enough to facilitate good discussion of complex issues, instead of being lectured to for several hours every day. The small nature of the school also provided ample opportunity to get involved in several clubs and activities outside of class, which always provided a nice break from studying. Overall, the congenial and close-knit atmosphere of the College made it a good place for someone looking to get involved.

As a student, what were you involved in?
I was involved with the SJC Mock Trial Team, participating all four years and serving as Team Captain for two years. I was also involved with the Model United Nations team all four years. In addition, I served the student government in a number of capacities, including Sophomore Class President, Schwietermann Hall Governor, and Student Association Executive Treasurer. When I had extra free time, I also participated in the College Republicans, Investment Club, and Campus Ministry, among others. On top of my coursework and involvement in campus clubs, I also worked in the Office of Admissions for four years serving as an Office Assistant, Representative Assistant, and Internal Intern.

What are you doing now?
I am currently attending Drake University Law School seeking my Juris Doctorate and Master's of Public Administration.

How is SJC helping you with your future goals?
I could have received no better preparation for the transition to law school than the education I received at SJC. The small classes allowed for interaction with professors, several of whom used the Socratic method in class, which prepared me for the methods used in many of my law school courses. In addition, the writing experiences gained through all of my SJC courses, especially Core, provided excellent training for the level of writing expected of a law student. The same can be said of the presentation experiences gained through my various SJC courses, which provided invaluable experience in speaking in front of my peers and large groups, a skill that is vital to any law student.
