Why did you choose SJC?
In high school, I visited large universities, but the people there weren't friendly. At Saint Joseph's College, the admissions counselors were receptive and outgoing. They would even "check up" on me to see how I was doing. The students were up-front and honest when I asked them about life on campus, and I greatly appreciated that. The faculty were also very friendly and helpful. Before I even chose to attend SJC, I had a chance to sit down and have lunch with a faculty member and a student from the major I thought I might have an interest in. This was beneficial for me when I picked my career track.

As a student, what were you involved in?
At SJC, I was involved with WPUM, the College's radio station, as Production Director, Underwriting Director, On-Air Personality, and Sportscaster. I was also heavily involved with TV-6, the College's television station, where the positions I held included News Anchor, Assistant News Producer, and News Director. I was a Freshman Leader, Admissions Telecounselor, and tutor for the Communication Department and Core Program. I also belonged to the Columbian Players (SJC's theatre organization), Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), Student Union Board (SUB), and Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Alpha Theta honor societies, and I was involved with SJC's Annual Little 500 go-kart race as a member of the pit crew and eventually track marshall.

What are you doing now?
I am a Production Technician for Insight Communications in Lafayette, Indiana, where I shoot and edit promotional videos, as well as aid the development of community-relations campaigns for the greater Lafayette area. We are responsible for conducting monthly seminars, through which we teach participants how to produce their own television programs. We also provide programming for eight different local channels throughout west central Indiana.

How did SJC prepare you for the "real world"?
SJC's Core Program allowed me to touch base with and be open to different ideas and viewpoints. By interacting with a number of diverse classmates and classroom situations, I was exposed to a wide range of views on the world and life in general, allowed to see the world through a different perspective, and given a greater appreciation and respect for opinions that differed from mine. I learned how important time management was, and how important it was for me to become a team player. At SJC, I also reestablished my spiritual beliefs.
