What activities or clubs are you involved in at SJC?

I am a member of the women's basketball team. I am not a part of any particular clubs, but I do attend a lot of student events on campus.

How did you hear about SJC?

A representative from SJC came to my school and gave us information. I also read about the College in my local newspaper.

Are you getting financial aid and if so, what kind? How is it helping you to attend SJC?

I am receiving scholarship money through athletics and academics. The Deans Scholarship has helped me tremendously.

Why did you choose SJC? If there were other colleges you considered, what does SJC have that they did not have?

I chose SJC because of the close, family-like environment. I went to a small high school, making adapting to college life at SJC easy. The small class sizes fit my learning style, and the professors take the time to help every student, making the education experience more valuable. Another reason I chose SJC is because of the Core Program.

What are your plans for the future or what career plans do you have?

I plan to be employed in the business world--hopefully in the concentration of marketing.

How do you feel about Core?

Core played a big role when I chose attend SJC. I really enjoy all of my Core classes. Core covers so much that I would not get out of "general-ed" classes at another college or university. Core is a great way to touch on history and everyday problem solving. SJC's Core Program is unique compared to other schools. I love the fact we start classes for our major our freshman year. This puts me ahead and really helps me understand my major at a younger age.

Do you feel that Core has helped you in your other classes within your major? Do you think Core will help you after graduation?

Core has definitely helped me with my other classes. My writing has improved immensely due to my two Core writing classes. Core has also given me a better understanding of culture and religion, which helps me in problem solving in my other classes. I think the Core Program will prove to be beneficial after graduation. I have been gaining experience in marketing and other aspects of business since day one of my freshman year. The Core Program and what the Program provides puts students a step ahead of future competitors in the work world.
