The Saint Joseph's College Writing Clinic is a free service offered by the College to aid students in their academic writing. Whether you’re having a problem organizing thoughts on paper or just have a few grammatical questions, the tutors working in the Writing Clinic can help.

The Clinic operates on an appointment basis. Appointments can be made by calling 219-866-6000 extension 6138 or recording your name on the sign-up sheet posted outside of the Clinic, which is located in office 212 on the second floor of the Rev. Charles Banet, C.PP.S. Core Education Center. When leaving voice mail messages, please be sure to include your name and phone number so that your call can be returned and your reservation confirmed.

On the day of your appointment, please bring with you the following:

• A copy of the writing assignment instructions (if you have received them from your instructor).

• A readable rough draft of the assignment you are currently working on, or a critiqued paper that you plan to revise. When printing out papers for review, please be sure to double space text and use the “spell check” function on your computer to catch any grammatical errors.

During the session, your tutor will identify and explain any problems relating to organization, development, and mechanics and assist you in finding effective solutions. He/she will also notify your instructor that you have visited the Clinic and indicate what kind of help you received.

Note: The Writing Clinic staff has been instructed to refuse to critique any work submitted to them in the residence halls.
