A Welcome from the Mayor of Rensselaer, Herbert Arihood
Thank you for your interest in Saint Joseph’s College and Rensselaer. The county seat for Jasper County in northwestern Indiana, our city has been selected as one of Indiana's top five small communities.
Our community's roots began as a small farming hub and has grown to be a fully self-sufficient, growing city, large enough to survive the demands of the new millennium and concise enough to provide an admirable and conservative living quality. We have a notable school system, constantly being upgraded to meet the ever-changing needs of our children; a gigantic park system, well-groomed and immaculately maintained; a parochial school; eight major churches; two industrial parks that provide a consistent commercial base; two shopping mall locations and a quaint downtown area around the county courthouse square; a five-screen cinema; Jasper County Hospital, which serves a forty mile area; and of course, Saint Joseph's College. There is a great partnership between SJC and the City of Rensselaer, and that partnership helps to keep our community progressive and looking positively toward the future.
