Parental Testimonials
Hear from parents who know the value of an SJC education:
Rev. Delores Banks (Ferguson, Missouri)
“Saint Joseph’s College met all of the criteria
I had for the college I wanted my son, David, to attend: it had high academic
standards, was close to home, and seemed like a place where he would feel
comfortable. It was also important for his college to have some religious
structure, so that the Lord could be included in his curriculum. At SJC,
David became a more confident, more stable, more patient person, enhancing
the strengths he already had. When he called home, he always had something
positive to say, and when I had questions or concerns, the staff members
were never too busy to talk them through with me. David and I both have
good memories of his time there.”
Pat and Donna ’73 (Zimmerman) Moran (Indianapolis, Indiana)
“For the Moran family, SJC is a special place.
I first heard about the College from my uncle, Don Brinley, who was a
history professor there, and was really impressed by its friendly atmosphere.
Throughout my four years, my professors weren’t just my teachers;
they were friends, guidance counselors, confidants, spiritual advisors,
and surrogate parents. Therefore, Pat and I were thrilled when our son
decided to attend college there as well. Since his freshman year, we have
seen Chris’s confidence, self-esteem, and active involvement in
his faith strengthen, and his interpersonal relationships and awareness
continue to grow. SJC’s Christian teachings, clergy, and physical
architecture – which includes the Saint Joseph’s Chapel, Lourdes
Grotto, and several religious statues – reminds us of God’s
presence on campus and allows my husband, son, and I to strengthen our
connection to God, uniting us in closeness because of Him.”
Lou ’69 and Lindy Offer (Royal Oak, Michigan)
“For us, a number of characteristics made Saint
Joseph’s College stand out from other colleges: religious atmosphere,
family-oriented campus, friendly people, and loyalty to tradition. I graduated
from SJC and loved it, and each time Lindy visited campus with me she
felt warm, welcomed, and loved. Both our son and daughter attended SJC,
and as a result, we feel our children were influenced to be more responsible,
more loving, and more willing to help others. A Catholic college provides
a certain environment that public universities cannot – students
can share their beliefs and encourage each other in their faith. Classes
can be faith-centered, students can pray openly, and liturgies, services,
and retreats can be celebrated.”
