Saint Joseph's College to Trick-or-Treat for the Hungry

On Halloween night, October 31, students from Saint Joseph's College will trick-or-treat for the hungry. Volunteers will go door-to-door in Rensselaer asking for canned goods and non-perishable food items, which will be delivered to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Rensselaer.

The annual event, sponsored by SJC Campus Ministry, offers the chance for students to engage with the community and provide for the poor and needy during the holiday season.

"Trick-or-Treat for the Hungry is a great way to give back to the community," said sophomore Accounting major Katie Phillips of Rensselaer, Ind. "We are very excited about this event."

Although the event consists largely of student volunteers, all are welcome to participate. Volunteers should meet in the Gaspar Center, located on floor 1A in Schwietermann Hall on the SJC campus, at 4:30 pm CDT, and trick-or-treating will run 5:30-8:00 pm CDT. Pizza will be served, and Ed Feicht '71 from the Good Samaritan Food Pantry will speak about the poor and hungry in Jasper County. The Rensselaer Chamber of Commerce is donating reusable bags for the volunteers to carry.
