Columbian Players Find Love Beneath the Northern Lights in "Almost, Maine"
The Columbian Players of Saint Joseph's College will present the comedy "Almost, Maine" by John Cariani and on January 26, 27, and 28 at 8:00 pm CST in SJC's Evans Arts and Science Building Theatre. Tickets are $5.00 and free for SJC students, faculty, and staff.
Set in the remote, mythical town of Almost in northern Maine, "Almost, Maine" focuses on the relationships of the town's residents on a cold, moonless night in the middle of winter as the Northern Lights hover in the sky. The residents find themselves falling in and out of love in humorous and unexpected ways.
"'Almost, Maine' is that rare show that touches your heart while also being funny," said John Rahe, director and Associate Professor of Communication and Theatre Arts at SJC. "Although the play is set in northern Maine, these characters could easily be from a small town like Rensselaer."
The cast includes 11 students, including: sophomore Business Administration major Jessie Ruisard of Valparaiso, Ind. as Gayle and the waitress; sophomore Mass Communication major Alycia Tassone of DeMotte, Ind. as Ginnette and Hope; and junior Biology major Ken Scofield of Roselawn, Ind. as Pete and Lendall; sophomore Criminal Justice major Veronica Rivera of Chicago, Ill. as Rhonda; sophomore English major Jessica Ruschke of Bright, Ind. as Sandrine and Marcie; sophomore Mass Communication major Darryl Jordan of Indianapolis, Ind. as East and Dave; sophomore Tanner Brunson of Lafayette, Ind. as Steve and Randy; freshman Tadd Maddalozzo of Peoria, Ill. as Chad and Daniel; freshman A.J. Frigo of Monon, Ind. as Jimmy and Phil; and freshman Sociology major Nicola Searsbrook of Indianapolis, Ind. as Glory.
