Saint Joseph's College Welcomes the Christmas Season with Service of Lessons and Carols
The Saint Joseph's College choir will be presenting its annual Service of Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 2 at 4:00 pm CST in the Saint Joseph's Chapel. A longstanding area tradition and the formal start of the Christmas season for many, this service offers readings and music celebrating the birth of Christ through Scripture and traditional choral selections.
"The Service of Lessons and Carols is one of the highlights of the year for the SJC community," stated Director of College Choirs Kelly Ford. "It is always great to see the number of people who come to be a part of this joyful celebration."
In addition to the readings by several members of the campus and local community, the SJC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform music for Advent and Christmas and lead the audience in singing many traditional Christmas carols. The choirs will be accompanied by members of the SJC orchestra as well as brass and percussion from the Department of Music. The service will be led by Fr. Jeffrey Kirch,
"This has begun to evolve into a full Department of Music event," said Ford. "I love seeing opportunities to share the talent in our whole department, and this wonderful holiday event is the perfect time to do it."
The Service of Lessons and Carols is open to the public and free of charge.
