THIS WEEK IN PUMA SPORTS

Over the two games, Banks scored five touchdowns, including one 80-yard touchdown run against the Bearcats on Saturday.
PUMAS FALL IN HOME FINALE
The football team (4-6, 3-0 GLFC) lost their final home game of the season 28-16 against Southwest Baptist University on Saturday at Alumni Stadium. After a scoreless first quarter, the Pumas took the lead on their first handoff in the second quarter as Jashon Banks (Jr., Kankakee, Ill./Kankakee) sprinted 80 yards down the sideline for the first score of the game.
SBU tied the game late in the first half, but the Pumas had enough time to maneuver downfield and set up a 26 yard Drake Gadberry (Fr., Avon, Ind./Tri-West) field goal to take a 10-7 lead at the half. In the second half, however, the Bearcats benefited from good field position as they scored touchdowns on their first two possessions. The Pumas added a late Michael Cochran (RSr., Ferndale, Mich./Ferndale) touchdown to get within 12 points, but the two-point conversion failed and SBU ran out the clock.
Banks finished the afternoon with 140 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown. Bill Perry (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) recorded a game high 12 tackles.
VOLLEYBALL SWEPT IN MISSOURI
The volleyball team lost two matches 3-0 to Rockhurst University and Drury University over a weekend trip through Missouri. On Friday, SJC played a majority of the contest without top passer Erin Brocker (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) which caused a sub-par hitting percentage as the Hawks picked up the victory. Sharon Freund (So., McHenry, Ill./Johnsburg) led the Pumas offensively with a team high six kills and nine digs.
On Saturday, the Pumas battled but lost the first game 25-19 to Drury. The Panthers picked up the second game 25-11 to take a 2-0 lead into the break. Another closely contested game went the way of the DU as they sealed the victory.
Freund finished with nine kills while Kate Weiskittel (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) added seven kills. Leah Zehme (Fr., Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) recorded 26 assists.
SJC is tied for the final spot in the GLVCC tournament with Bellarmine University. The Pumas hold the tiebreaker over the Knights if the two schools remain tied after the completion of the regular season.
