SJC Selected Fourth in GLVC North
The Saint Joseph's College women's basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference North Division according to the annual preseason coaches poll. The league's 15 head coaches vote annually to formulate the preseason rankings.
Quincy University has been picked to claim the top spot in the North Division, accumulating 58 total points, including eight first place votes. Lewis University finished six points behind the Hawks. The Pumas, coming off a 0-27 season, totaled 27 points to sit fourth in the poll, 12 points behind the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Indianapolis and Drury were picked to win their respective divisions.
Each team will play every team in their respective divisions twice this season, with the top three teams from each division advancing into the tournament field, along with three wild card teams. This newly-expanded GLVC Tournament will take place over two weekends at the end of the season. The four advancing teams from the quarterfinals will play for the Tournament Championship March 6th-7th at The Recreation and Athletics Center (TRAC) on the campus of the University of Illinois-Springfield.
The Pumas will host Bethel College in an exhibition game November 5th with the first GLVC contest of the season being December 3rd as the Pumas host Drury University at Richard F. Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse.
