98% of the Class of 2004 Employed Full-Time or in Graduate School Within Ten Months of Graduation
Posted: May 24, 2005.
Now that the members of the Class of 2005 have graduated and entered the "real world," they are ready to put to the test the job skills and life lessons they've experienced at Saint Joseph's College.
As SJC's newest college graduates begin the next phase of their lives, they can find encouragement and strength in numbers - literally. The SJC Career Development Center released the results of the SJC Class of 2004 Alumni Career Survey this May. Highlights of the survey include:
* 98% of the Class of 2004 was employed full-time or in graduate school within ten months of graduation. This compares with the 96% figure from the Class of 2003.
* 90% of SJC's Class of 2004 reported that they secured employment in their field of choice within ten months of graduation.
* Over 65% of students from the Class of 2004 reported participating in internships while enrolled at SJC.
* 78% of the Class of 2004 reported being either "satisfied" or "extremely satisfied" with their careers within ten months of graduation.
* The most effective method of securing employment for 2004 graduates was through networking. Over 40% of the class obtained their employment through networking.
* 14% of the Class of 2004 reported acceptance to graduate/professional school before graduating from SJC. A sampling of graduate schools attended include: Columbia University, Indiana University School of Medicine, The Ohio State School of Medicine, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Valparaiso University School of Law, Purdue University, Ball State University, and Saint Xavier University.
* The Class of 2004 experienced an increase in entry-level salaries in many of SJC's majors. This is consistent with a national study conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
"We are proud of the career success of our 2004 graduates and are certain the Class of 2005 will soon join in this long, proud tradition," reflected Adam Malson, Director of SJC's Career Development Center. "The strong career preparation of each of our academic programs, coupled with our campus's focus on internships and hands-on career experience, helps our graduates to stay competitive."
