SJC Women's Soccer Signs Rockford Boyland Standout
RENSSELAER, IN--- Saint Joseph's College head women's soccer coach Rob Burns has announced the signing of Britney Cox to a National Letter of Intent. Cox is the daughter of Dave and Barb Cox of Kirkland, Illinois. She was a member of the Rockford Boylan High School girl's soccer team coached by Mark Couper. The future Puma also was member of the Hoffman Estates Storm Club Team.
"We are very excited to have Britney become a part of the Saint Joseph's College soccer community," said second-year Coach Burns. "She will play a vital role in the Pumas' success next year on the field and in the classroom, added Burns. "We are looking for her to play up top and in the midfield and she will bring a wealth of experience with her to our 2002 Puma squad."
While a member of the Rockford Boylan Titan soccer team, Cox was a three-year varsity letterwinner and earned two-time "Play of the Day" honors by WIFR-TV in Rockford, Illinois. She helped Boylan to their thirteen, fourteen and fifteen consecutive Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-9) championship as well as regional championship. The Titans also were sectional championships and appeared in the state and super-sectional during her scholastic career.
Cox also was the leading scorer for the Division "A" Hoffman Estates Storm Club and three-year Illinois ODP pool player.
Saint Joseph's College is affiliated with the NCAA Division II and a member of the 11-team Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Pumas finished the 2001 season with a 8-9-1 overall record and a 6-4 conference record, which placed them in fifth place.
