Marge McIlwain has worked at Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana for the last 29 years. She started full time in 1986 and helped launch the St. Joseph’s College/St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing program as the chemistry professor for the nurses at SJC. She taught both chemistry and mathematics until 1998 when she became the Dean of Freshmen (Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs) and continued teaching mathematics. In 2002, after becoming paralyzed in a farm accident, she became a full time mathematics professor. In 2014, Marge became the chair of the department.
Marge has served on a variety of committees in the college, including Student Life, Admissions and Retention, Student Appeals, Faculty Promotion and Tenure, Teacher Education and Quantitative Literacy. She was a part of the Freshman Advising and Seminar from the early ‘90’s until 2011.
