Lourdes Grotto

Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary's appearance to St. Bernadette in Lourdes, France, this five-acre wooded site was created in 1898, renovated once in 1930, and then again through the Fellows Grotto Beautification Project launched in 2003. Featuring waterfalls, gardens, benches, and a path displaying the Stations of the Cross, the principal focus of the Grotto is the cave that houses a statue of Jesus praying in Gethsemane. Students, employees, and Rensselaer community members alike use it as a quiet place for reflection.
