Theatre ArtsDivision: Humanities Department: Communication Theatre Arts - The field of study concerned with the role of the arts in society through topics such as the nature of art; the role of the playwright, director, actor, designers, and audience; major movements in theatre history and philosophy; and types and forms of drama. Have you ever dreamed of being an actor, stage manager, or director? Do you want to have creative freedom within your career and utilize your oral communication skills? A Theatre Arts major at SJC can help you along your path to greatness. We believe the key to learning to be an actor, director, designer, or technician is in the application of the theories and skills learned in the classroom. While text books, lectures, and theories are vital to the intellectual growth of a theatre artist, it is in production where a student's true worth is made manifest. Why Theatre Arts? Why Theatre Arts
at SJC? Hands-on Experience: The radio and television studios at SJC have professional, broadcast-quality equipment, and students are encouraged to get involved in their freshman years.
