Sociology
Division: Social Science
Department: Sociology
Sociology - Sociology, as a science of society and human
interests, develops our understanding of how we, as social beings, are
woven into the fabric of our society; it aids us in understanding what
is happening around us and what social forces are bearing on our lives.
Have you ever tried to "fit in"? Did you ever wonder
why?
Why Sociology?
Fact 1: Whether we are at work, at home, or in our own neighborhoods,
we are maintaining or creating our society.
Fact 2: Sociology allows us to learn about institutions
of marriage, family, education, politics and economics, religion, and
other institutions people create for themselves.
Fact 3: The Sociology major offers many options for students,
including careers in urban planning, social work, law and law enforcement,
business administration, and public administration, as well as in international
settings.
