JournalismDivision: Humanities Department: English Journalism - The study of reporting, photographing, or editing news stories for venues of print of broadcast media. Are you addicted to CNN? Do you love getting to the bottom of hard-hitting news stories? Why Journalism? Why Journalism
at SJC? Dedication to Excellence: At SJC, you will be challenged. Journalism minors have the opportunity to gain experience working on The Observer, the College's award-winning student newspaper. Many internships are available in the field of journalism, and students will find strong faculty support for each. Hands-on Experience: While we know the importance of classroom learning, we also know you need more than "book smarts" to land a job. That's why we encourage our Journalism students to pursue internships in their areas of interest. That way, when you're a senior and ready to start job-hunting, you'll already have practical work experience under your belt. You'll also have an idea of which career paths best suit your skills and interests. (Success Stories) Faculty and Class Size: The Department of English consists of professors who each hold at least one terminal degree in their fields of expertise. Ranging from 10 to 20 students, the average class size is small, allowing faculty members to become involved with off-campus projects in order to bring new knowledge to their students.
