Why International Studies at SJC?

Variety: SJC has a history of creating programs to meet the needs of its students. Our membership in the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers (NAFSA): Association of International Educators and willingness to enter associate agreements with other colleges and universities allow us to tailor an experience abroad or internship to fit you.

  • Participating schools: Beaver College, University of Evansville's Harlaxton College, Central College, and others
  • Participating locations: Australia, Northern Ireland, England, Italy, Austria, Costa Rica, Greece, Spain, and Mexico
Dedication to Excellence: Our affiliation with NAFSA also allows us to find other reputable programs if students show interest in areas not covered by our agreements. The combination of the agreements noted above and our affiliation with NAFSA allow us the flexibility to expand offerings for the student with varied interests.

Hands-on Experience: The faculty at SJC encourage all of their students to participate in internships or programs abroad. The Washington Center in Washington, D.C. is an excellent program for policy-oriented students who want to get hands-on experience in our nation's Capital. The Director of International Studies at SJC has in the past, through grants provided by the Irvine and Rotary Foundations, taken students to places such as Guadalajara, Mexico and Managua, Nicaragua to serve as research assistants.

Faculty and Class Size: The faculty at SJC has vast experience and expertise because of their research and personal experiences, which include travels to India, Nicaragua, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Africa, England, Jordan, Syria, and Vietnam. Class sizes range between 10 and 25 students due to the various types of required courses. (Faculty Profiles)
