Housing Policies
The residence life program at Saint Joseph's College is designed to make the experience of moving away from home and living on your own as simple as possible. By immersing yourself in Saint Joseph's, you'll be in the center of all the action, develop long-lasting friendships, learn how to live and get along with others, and have the opportunity to truly jump in and get involved in campus life.
Each furnished room offers Internet access, a telephone system with voicemail, and cable television, including the Puma movie channel, Saint Joseph's own movie network that shows recent releases. Residence halls also offer lounge and laundry space, and easy access to other campus facilities. Campus Security is available 24 hours a day, year round. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available to students in the dining hall, which features an "all-you-care-to-eat" policy, sure to leave you satisfied. When you want to grab a quick bite, visit the HUB, Saint Joseph's fast-food hangout.
Residency Requirements
As a residential campus, SJC designs Housing and Residence Life programs to assist students with developing the "life skills" necessary for success.
All full-time Saint Joseph's College students are required to reside in College residence halls unless living with a spouse or parent(s) within a 60-mile radius of Rensselaer. Students meeting this requirement must complete a Day Student Status Application.
Non-Traditional Students
Saint Joseph's College is a largely residential campus comprised of traditional aged students. Students over the age of 25 requesting to live on the SJC campus for the first time should plan to set up an interview with the Provost's Office/designee. A final decision about the availability of housing will be made following the interview.
The Office of Housing and Residence Life is located on the second floor of Halleck Student Center. Office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
