Colorguard / Winterguard
The
Saint Joseph’s College Color Guard and Winter Guard provide the
perfect combination of music and dance for performances that take place
on and off campus. Members learn choreographed routines with flags, rifles,
and sabres and dance to music performed by the Marching Band during halftime
at all home football games and selected local parades, including the Saint
Patrick’s Day Parade in Chicago. During basketball season, the Winter
Guard performs at the halftime of selected home games.
The Color Guard and Winter Guard practice two to three times a week with the Marching Band during the fall semester and is advised by the Director of College Bands, who asks that all members have previous guard experience. Freshmen interested in joining are encouraged to apply for a Performance Scholarship in this area. Students should contact the Director of College Bands before arriving on campus for the start of fall classes.
