Evaluating Web Resources

Most of us feel that we are Internet savvy enough to know if the information we are getting is bogus or not. But, would you be willing  to stake your career, academic or otherwise, on that assumption? There are somebasic questions that should become second nature and will help you identify reliable sources very quickly.

                    What's in the name?
                    Who is the publisher?
                    Who is the author?
                    Is the information accurate?
                    Is the information current?

Beginning June 18, the Robinson Memorial Library will be utilizing a new online library system for its Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).  The Library belongs to the Private Academic Library Network of Indiiana (PALNI) and now joins the shared database system.  A total of twenty-two Indiana academic institutions are sharing the new EX LIBRIS system.    This new system offers many features to assist faculty and students with research.  Some of these features will not be available in June but are expected to be implemented during the upcoming academic year.  SJC is among the first four institutions to implement this system.

OPAC special features include:

                        1.  online course reserve system
                        2.  access to other databases from the OPAC
