Professor Berger has research interests in mass media audiences, media effects, new media technologies, and the history of the American film industry. He was associated with The Media Workshops in Los Angeles for 15 years as lecturer in film history, program director, and faculty-in-residence. His teaching interests include film history, video production, screenwriting, and new technology. Prof. Berger won the Saint Joseph’s College Teaching Excellence Award in 1996, SJC Religio Award in 1998 and 2008, the Moralitas Award in 2010 and 2013, the Sister Catherine Fay Humanitarian Award in 2003 and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Award in 2008.
