Professor Nichols' areas of specialization include assessment of student
learning and integration of academic disciplines, and he has 24 published
articles on philosophy, liberal education, and general education.
In June 2002, he organized and led a three-hour workshop entitled,
"Begin With the End," presenting it at an assessment conference for
the American Association for Higher Education. His book, Accreditation
and the Quality of Liberal Education, hit bookstores in September
