The Center for Indiana Partnerships
Internships
The Center for Indiana Partnerships (CIP) is a grant funded program that places students in internships throughout Indiana. The CIP Coordinator works with businesses and non-profit organizations throughout the state to help place SJC students in internships related to their major. Interns are paid a stipend from funds made available to Saint Joseph's College from a grant awarded by Lilly Endowment.
Benefits to organizations
- Internship programs are an effective way to identify, assess, and develop future career professionals
- Interns can be assigned short- or long-term projects that will benefit the organization while developing the interns professional skills
- Internships can develop the managerial skills of the employees who supervise the student interns
- Employers can build an on-going relationship with Saint Joseph's College to assure a future supply of willing interns
How to get started
Ask yourself these questions:
- Can I provide meaningful work assignments for a student intern?
- Am I prepared to invest the time and effort necessary for teaching and training a student?
- Is there a staff person willing to supervise a student intern?
- Do we have sufficient office work space to accommodate a student intern?
- Are there projects and tasks that will provide an opportunity for the student intern to develop his/her skills?
If you can answer "yes" to these questions, then a Saint Joseph's College student intern is something to consider. If you are interested please complete our on-line employer internships request form.
