Admissions Timeline
The following is a suggested timeline for students considering admission to Saint Joseph's College. Be advised, this is only suggested. You should contact your Saint Joseph's College admissions counselor for more specific information.
| Fall of Junior Year: |
Take the preliminary SAT better known as the PSAT. See your high school guidance counselor for more specific information. |
| Spring of Junior Year: |
Start putting together a list of colleges and universities in which you are interested - a list of 5-10 schools is a good start. Take the SAT or ACT for the first time. Be sure to list Saint Joseph's College to receive your scores. Our SAT code is 1697; ACT code is 1240. |
| Summer before Senior Year: |
Try to visit as many colleges on your list as you can. For information on visiting Saint Joseph's College go to Visit Us, or call 1-800-447-8781. |
| September of Senior Year: |
Try to cut your original college list in half and apply to those schools in which you are most interested. Apply online to Saint Joseph's College. If you haven't already taken the SAT or ACT, register to take either test at your earliest convenience. Be sure to list Saint Joseph's College to receive your scores. Our SAT code is 1697; ACT code is 1240. |
| October of Senior Year: |
Begin to research independent and institutional scholarship opportunities. Many scholarships have strict deadlines and you don't want to miss out on any opportunities. Saint Joseph's College awards a variety of institutional scholarships. Register for a visit day program or plan individual visits to the schools you are considering attending. | November of Senior Year: |
Don't forget the NCAA Clearinghouse if you are interested in participating in NCAA Division I or Division II athletics. You must meet certain minimum academic requirements. For more information about the Clearinghouse, contact your high school guidance counselor. Attend SJC's Discover Day in November. |
| December of Senior Year: |
Enjoy the holidays! Don't forget - January 15th is the deadline for the Presidential Scholarship. Apply for admission if you are interested. Attend a Puma Preview Saturday in December. |
| January of Senior Year: |
January 15th is the deadline for the Saint Joseph's College Presidential Scholarship. This is a full tuition scholarship and is the most prestigious award offered by the College. You can submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students interested in receiving financial assistance from Saint Joseph's College must submit this form before March 1st. January 1st is the application deadline for the Saint Joseph's College Thomas J. Huhn Athletic Leadership Scholarship. For eligibility requirements, visit Saint Joseph's Awards. |
| February of Senior Year: |
You should continue narrowing down your list of colleges. Attend SJC's Individual Overnight Program. |
| March of Senior Year: |
Be sure to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the federal processor by March 1st. Attend Puma Preview Saturday. |
| April of Senior Year: |
Financial Aid award letters should be reviewed carefully. Don't hesitate to discuss your package with your Admissions Counselor or the Financial Aid Officers. |
| May of Senior Year: |
May 1st is the day you should make your final decision as to which college you will attend. Offers of admission and financial aid awards are no longer guaranteed after this date. If you plan to attend Saint Joseph's College, you must submit your $200 advance payment deposit by May 1st. |
| June of Senior Year: |
Congratulations on your high school graduation! Saint Joseph's College Early Registration programs are held in June. Students who have submitted their $200 advance payment deposit will be invited to attend. This is your opportunity for you to select your fall courses, get your college ID, and sign up for your residence hall and roommate selection. Contact your Admissions Counselor for specific dates. |
| July | Tuition statements will be mailed to the homes of students planning to attend Saint Joseph's College. Contact the Business Office at 219-866-6145 for more information. Information on Orientation Programs will be sent to your home. |
| August | You've made it. Welcome to Saint Joseph's College! New Student Orientation begins the Thursday before classes start in mid August. |
