Susan Chattin is the Director of the colleges Intercultural Core program, which includes Core 7 (India and China) and Core 8 (Africa and Latin America). Her teaching interests have resulted in travel in Southern Africa, the Peoples Republic of China, and India.

David Dixon's teaching and research interests focus on Latin America. His dissertation completed at the University of Notre Dame was titled "Options for the Poor in Penalolen: Elites, Popular Culture and Religious Congregations in Democratic Chile." Professor Dixon has served as a Parliamentary Election Observer in Chile, and as an Electoral Consultant in Nicaragua. At Saint Joseph's College David Dixon teaches classes in comparative and international politics. He also teaches in the college's Core program.

In addition to teaching classes in economics and finance, Professor Oakes teaches in Core 7, Intercultural Studies. He is also the Director of Core 4, The Christian Impact on Western Civilization.

John P. Posey

Phil Posey began his tenure at SJC in 1969. He retired from the institution in 2002. Phillip Posey's teaching interests took him to the former Soviet Union, India, the People's Republic of China, and Western and Eastern Europe. In addition to teaching classes in European history,
Phillip Posey taught classes on the history of modern East Asia, the
modern Middle East, and the American Civil War. He also taught classes in the college's Core program. At various times he was Director of the college's program in International Studies and Director of SJC's Intercultural Core program. He was also, for many years, Chair of the Department. Departmental and Core classes offered in fall 2002: European Civilization I, Europe 1890-1945, Core 1 (The Contemporary Situation).
Ilicia Sprey joined the Department in 2002. Her academic interests include European, Asian, and Middle Eastern history. These interests are reflected in her travels. Over recent years she has traveled to England, Jordan, Syria, and most recently Vietnam.
Prior to her appointment at SJC Professor Sprey taught at Blue Ridge Community College. She has also taught at Mary Baldwin College, and Northern Virginia Community College. Professor Sprey has appeared as a guest lecturer at the University of Virginia and Ball State University. Her publications have appeared in the Reader's Guide to British History, Historical Dictionary of Late Medieval England, and Revue d'histoire ecclesiastique. In addition to her work in History, Professor Sprey teaches in the college's Core program.
