The Communication Department
at Saint Joseph's College offers a
comprehensive
course of study in mass communication, theatre and an introduction to
communication practice and theory. From the beginning
introductory courses to the capstone Senior Seminar course where the
student demonstrates competency in the discipline through a major
research paper or original project, the Mass Communication and
Theatre
Arts programs prepares students for the future, be it in the work force
or graduate school. Our graduates hold positions in management,
marketing, public relations, banking, teaching, and the entertainment
industry, to name but a few of the careers open to a one of our majors.
Students majoring in
the Department have the choice of two majors: Mass Communication or Theatre Arts .
Click on the major for specific requirements. Or, browse through our course descriptions. In addition,
students majoring in another field and interested in learning more
about
communication may select a minor in Mass Communication, Theatre, or
Communication
The department also
offers co-curricular opportunities for the student
which
include the FCC-licensed Radio Station WPUM-FM, the campus
Television Station WPUM-TV, and the Columbian Players theatrical group.
Students gain insight into the 'real world' when Communication
Department alumni return to campus annually for a career
panel presentation...
Students perform in the Columbian Players' production of "A Dolls
House" at SJC...
Mass Communication students
broadcast the annual "Little 500" go-kart race on WPUM-FM...
Television production students tape a game show in the television
studio, to be aired later on our campus cable system...
