Commencement Information 2011
Caps and Gowns:
A "Graduate Fair" will be held at the College Store on March 15-16 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. where graduates may place orders for cap and gowns as well as other graduation items. Cap and gowns may be picked up at the College Store beginning May 2nd to May 8th. These will be the student's to keep and need not be returned. Please contact the College Store at 219-866-6391 or email Vinse Hershberger with any questions regarding this material.
Student Financial Services:
- Students who have borrowed money under the Federal Stafford Loan Program or Federal Perkins Loan Program are required to do an electronic exit interview for each program they have borrowed from. E-mails with exit details will be sent to students' SJC e-mail accounts.
- Balances from the March 31st statement must be paid in full by 3 p.m. on May 6th.
- Students who have not completed exit interviews or paid their balances will have their diplomas held.
Degrees:
Those not present for Commencement will receive their degrees by mail following the May 8th ceremony.
Degree Candidates:
You must be registered for either the Spring or Fall term to participate in graduation ceremonies.
College Store:
The College Store will be open on Saturday, May 7th 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and on Sunday, May 8th 9 a.m. - 4 p.m..
Seating at Graduation Ceremony:
There is limited seating for the graduation ceremony - no reserved seating available.
Handicapped Seating Available:
If you require handicapped seating for the graduation ceremony, please use response card or contact Ernest Watson. Seating available for individual and one other person.
Housing:
All students living in residential housing need to complete the check out/move out process by 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8th.
Commencement Photographs:
GradImages is the official photographer for our Commencement. Proofs will be sent to your home and via email within three to five days after graduation. Pictures can be ordered online, by phone or by mail. Graduation Images can be contacted at 800-261-2576 or www.gradimages.com.
Registering your graduate with GradImages provides them with the information they need to deliver your graduation proofs to you in a timely manner. Giving them an accurate mailing address and email address will allow them to get your proofs to you on the first try. You may also provide them with email addresses of up to six friends and family members to allow them to celebrate in the accomplishment.
