Economics students conducted a field research project that will documented the impact of Walmart on Rensselaer and the surrounding communities. The result: "Walmart saves people money and contributes positively to employment and earnings in local communities," says Simmie Border, a senior minoring in economics. |

SIFE Leaders Host Free Enterprise Day
Students from area high schools will descend on campus this fall for Free Enterprise Day. Managed by SJC's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) leaders, the day will involve design and promotion of a new business venture, capped by a presentation to judges.
Dr. Robert Schenk Blogs on Economics
Professor of Economics Robert Schenk's blog is getting noticed. Up and running for a while now, Cybereconomics documents commentary, news and analysis of various things economics. A popular blogger at The Atlantic, Megan McArdle recently caught sight of the blog and link to Dr. Schenk's story on the Minneapolis Fed.
