PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - A Physician Assistant (PA) assists the physician in providing primary care to patients. A PA examines, diagnoses and treats a wide variety of ailments. Most PAs are in the family practice field, but some enter other specialties. The PA works for a doctor or in a doctor group. PA schools are increasing in number as the need for PAs increases. PA school takes about two more years after graduation from College, so you can be earning a living much more quickly than if you became a doctor. Not many of our majors go into PA, but a GPA above 3.2 should allow entry into Physician Assistant schools.
Course work at Saint Joseph's College is the same as the Pre-Med program in general. You can major in Biology or Biology Chemistry. Look into PA schools to see what courses they want you to take now. For more information on Physician Assistants and PA Programs click here.
