Academic Advising

Majors and Programs at Saint Joseph's College seek to give students a strong foundation upon which they can build their future careers.  To help us accomplish this, even our introductory courses are taught by our top professors  Dr. Bob Brodman, Ph.D, teaches Introductory Biology, Dr. Anne Gull, Ph.D, teaches Introductory Chemistry while Dr. Jennifer Coy, Ph.D., teaches Introductory Physics.  Upper level courses and student research projects show students how to build upon these foundations.

I. & II. Biology or Biology-Chemistry
 A. Students majoring in biology or biology-chemistry often take concentrations (tracks) of courses targeted at specific careers:
  - HEALTH CARE (Biology, Biology-Chemistry and Physical Therapy) Tracks. These prepare students for careers in Health Care as DoctorsOccupational or Physical Therapists, Veterinarians, Physician Assistants or Pharmacologists. Our premedical advisors are Dr. Robert Brodman, Ph.D., Dr. Cheryl Wistrom, Ph.D., M.S., and Fr. William Stang M.D. all of whom understand the types of preparation needed for health care fields.

in Life Science - The Biology or Biology-Chemistry major coupled with a minor in education fulfils the requirements for a student to be certified to teach Biology or Life Science at the Middle School or High School level.  More information is on the education page.

 B. Instead of taking a particular track, some of our students seek a basic Biology degree and enter the job market immediately after graduation or go into graduate programs in Microbiology, Biochemistry etc.
