Health Insurance

Medical, Dental, Prescription Insurance

Saint Joseph's College maintains a group medical, dental and prescription insurance plan for employees that are eligible for benefits. The College will provide a portion of the premium for employees who elect to be covered under the College sponsored plan. The amount of premium provided by the College is subject to change and will be established no later than July 1 each year.

The employee portion of the insurance premium is collected through tax-deferred payroll reductions. Eligible employees who are covered under another plan may waive coverage under the College plan. For those who waive coverage and provide proof of other insurance, the College will fund a $400 per calendar year medical spending account.

Medical/dental/prescription insurance coverage normally begins on the first day of the month following the date of employment, and ends on the last day of the month in which the employee terminates employment. The College will continue group medical/dental/prescription insurance coverage during periods of leave of absence or suspension provided that the employee maintains payment of the premium he or she normally pays while working.

A detailed description of coverage under the College medical/dental/prescription plan will be provided for eligible employees during orientation with Human Resources.
