Contemporary Scene

The 2003 North American Regional Assembly.
Today the Missionaries of the Precious Blood are a world-wide community with about 525 definitively incorporated members. For the sake of government and communal life, the Society is divided into provinces. There may also be smaller geographic areas which are called vicariates and/or missions. In the United States there are three Provinces: Atlantic, Cincinnati, and Kansas City. The Cincinnati Province has missionaries working in Latin America in the countries of Peru, Chile and Guatemala. In Europe there are the Italian, Teutonic (Germany/Austria), Iberian (Spain) and Polish Provinces. The Teutonic province has established a vicariate in Brazil. The Italian Province has a vicariate in Tanzania and in India. In all the Missionaries of the Precious Blood minister in 18 different countries throughout the world.
It is the Cincinnati Province that maintains sponsorship over Saint Joseph's College, Rensselaer, IN and Calumet College of Saint Joseph, Whiting, IN.
While continuing to work in some of the traditional apostolates of the Congregation, there are new ministries being developed as the Congregation continues to discern the "call of the blood" in the 21st Century. A newly developed "Ministry of Reconciliation" as well as the revival of the Precious Blood Mission -- preaching of parish missions are some of these new ministries.

C.PP.S Companions
During the past several years, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in the Cincinnati, Kansas City and Pacific provinces began a lay associate program called the Companions. Companions are members of the laity who wish to associate themselves closely with the mission and spirituality of the Precious Blood. They meet regularly for prayer, formational opportunities and fellowship. There are approximately 530 Companions in the United States alone. Following a time of formation in the spirituality of the Precious Blood and a study of the history of the Congregation, Companions make a covenant with the C.PP.S. for a period of one or three years.
In the Atlantic Province and in Europe is another group of lay associates is called the Union of the Blood of Christ. This group is based on the Unio Sanguis Christi (in Italian) that is based in Rome.
